DESCRIPTIONxtnetserv is the remote server process for the GNUspool spooler and document management system. It serves 3 purposes; firstly it accepts jobs from other hosts submitted by gspl-rpr(1), secondly it accepts jobs and administration requests from DOS and Windows machines, and finally it supports API operations.
It is normally invoked by gspl-start(1).
Information, in respect of other machines to connect to is read from the file gnuspool.hosts.

INTERNET PORTSxtnetserv uses 2 ports:
(N.B. no second ``e'') to accept incoming jobs on TCP from gspl-rpr(1), and on UDP from the DOS/Windows interface, and 2 further ports
to communicate with the API library.
The port numbers are set up in the /etc/services file when GNUspool is first installed.
DIAGNOSTICSxtnetserv runs as a ``daemon process'' and diagnostics, apart from those detected when it is first started, are not usually written to any terminal but to the file spshed_reps in the spool directory.
In the event of any problems this file should be examined.
